"James Backhouse"

Formerly known as “Atkinsii of Backhouse”, but as this form sometimes produces misshapen petals, the name was changed to try and avoid confusion; a very good garden plant which reliably flowers early in the season.

In 2008 six out of my eleven plants produced flowers which had four outer and four inner segments. We will have to see what happens in 2009!!!
