elwesii var elwesii

This form of elwesii differs from var monostictus in having either two inner markings or one solid mark that can virtually cover the entire inner segment. Occasionally, as for my plants in 2006, they can have fine green lines on the tips of the outer segments. They can be robust plants which increase well, others, as seen in garden centres, can be slightly on the feeble side and are best grown under the shelter of a frame or greenhouse as they do not seem to tolerate our wet winters.
